This is so excellent. When he stepped down as SecDef I had to take his picture off my CoC board on the quarterdeck. It ended up inside the closet with my uniforms so he could always look over me...

I was on a USMC related forum back in the day when Mattis was leading troops in combat.

I’ll blame Siri. I had to manual-correct her autoacorrect when she sneaks in to add things. I caught her at it in a later post and ditched the unneeded “e.”

There are some very aggressive shooters in those units. And some of those elite units are not always well lead.

These guys were not set up for any great fall as the sales blurbs state. They were not betrayed.

They were cleared by the USMC. They all received the very much desired CAR for that mission. A sign the USMC saw that as combat.

Although if they all did earn a CAR that means none of them had ever been in combat before. Hopefully that was not the case

And the plt commander was promoted.

they even gave out “1” Purple Heart for that mission.

that is when you know you have been in a significant fire fight , when you have dozens of dead civilians , and your group has”1” purple heart and no KIAs.

Do I speak from any first hand experience? You bet I do.
