Hi everybody, I was recently invited to USCGA's Genesis Program and I have a couple of questions in mind. Is this program similar to USNA's Inspire Program? Are travel fees paid for or do we have to self-arrange? Is transportation to and from the academy provided? What attire should the students wear? If anyone has any insight or information feel free to respond. Thanks!

The logistics of this program appears to be very similar to Bear's Day which my daughter attended in the spring. You'll have to arrange and pay for your own travel. This link will give you info on travel recommendations: www.uscga.edu/visit. Deeper in that page, they recommend hotels and offer some discount codes for hotels related to academy functions. As for what to wear, this is what the program says:
Clothing and Packing:
Students will be in college classes throughout the day, please dress appropriately (comfortable & presentable) with comfortable walking shoes and bring an overnight bag with essentials. If you intend to participate in the Physical Fitness Exam (PFE) or observe sports practice, please bring an appropriate change of clothes.
When they say comfortable and presentable, they mean just that. You don't need to get all dressed up, but try to look nice. If you wear jeans, avoid those with a bunch of holes. They're really not that picky for these type of events. Depending on time of year, it'll be cold there, so dress accordingly. Wear comfortable shoes...you'll be walking a lot. They're offering a chance to do the PFE, so take advantage of that and bring appropriate clothes for that....shorts, t shirt, running shoes.
