A friend of mine (also an appointee) expressed concerns about getting the boot from the academy during I Day? She said she heard some rumors about how that could happen. I haven't ever heard of that. Anyone that can deny or confirm this? Why would you get kicked out during I Day?

The only reason that I can think of that might get an appointee kicked out on I-Day is drug use- specifically hard drugs. If you did not disclose use to your ALO and decide to disclose it on I-Day, it is not likely you will stay for BCT. Hope this helps!

If AFA is like CGA, medical issues can can come up (such as showing up in a cast), but often this happened over the first week.

I also saw a cadet or two booted for legal issues that had not been disclosed (classmate was wanted in court for stealing computers).

In general cadets were given a chance to succeed. The mission was attrition, it was to train cadets. Some cadets had attitudes, but they were given the opportunity to straighten up (often with additional attention).

That's all based on my CGA experiences, but I'd guess AFA is similar.

Yes, you can get kicked out during BCT, aside from preexisting issues, you can simply fail. That said, it is extremely rare. Most people that leave during BCT do so by choice.
