I sometimes wear glasses or a contact in one eye but not very often. On my vision section of DODMERB's, the optometrist specified no glasses/contacts. Am I allowed to have contacts mailed to me after beast, and is there an eye doctor that'll be accessible in case I need any new prescription during the academic year? Thanks in advance.

Glasses are covered by TRICARE (your insurance), but contacts are not. You’ll have to pay out of pocket for those. During Beast you’re not allowed to wear contacts, only the standard issue glasses. They’re not terrible, but I’d recommend getting new ones after Beast so you don’t look like “that guy.”

Still have them (like 30 years later). Put them on from time to tome to entertain the kids and scare my wife!

Haha yup still got mine in my issued trunk...spent all of Beast wearing them...

One of the great rewards of being a military retiree is you can get a free pair of glasses every year. You take your Rx to an MTF with an optical department, and the staff shows you the frames available for retirees. The newer, more modern ones? Nope. You pick your BCG frame in the size that fits your head. I get a pair for a cheap spare. Both my DH and I have them, and we make a fine pair when wearing them.

We do NOT sport the ever-stylish retention strap.
