I have read multiple articles concerning the USCGA and how the shutdown is affecting it. They say that non-essential personnel have been furloughed, including "support staff, maintenance and facilities workers, and groundskeepers." It seems like nearly everyone who is still working are faculty. I would imagine that admissions personnel would fall under support staff, but none of the articles I have read ever mentioned them.

My question is since the deadline for early action decisions to be released is Tuesday the 15th, will they still get released, or are admissions personnel considered "non-essential" and therefore we shouldn't expect to hear anything until the shutdown ends?

This is quoted from another post:

"I was interviewed as well. They sent a representative to my high school. On another note, I’ve been on a family trip to the northeast and stopped by the USCG Academy today. Great time walking the campus. Did stop into the admissions office. Despite being a partial government shut down, staff members were actively working on the final EA submittals to get them out by the 15th. Only a few weeks left!!!"

The Admissions Officers (plus all other military members of the Admissions staff) have been working throughout the partial shutdown in addition to one "excepted" civilian staff member to ensure all Early Action reviews would be completed and all decisions will be released by January 15th.

No Early Action decisions will be released or phone calls made this weekend...maybe Monday, but definitely by Tuesday.
