How will the Academy view a 4.01 Weighted GPA? This is what is showing on my portal.

It’s one of the ingredients. It depends on the competition.

Certainly it’s a great GPA ... assuming you took the necessary courses.

Thank you! But even though this is on a 5.0 scale, having taken 11 AP and a Dual Enrollment (Engineering) course, this looks good? I just wanna be sure. Thank you so much again.

A quick google search didn’t help me. Is that a weighted average of a B?

I will let someone with better knowledge answer this.

I'm not sure. Some sites are saying that it's an A, other's saying it's a B. I'll try to check with my counselor.

The purpose of a weighted GPA is to factor in course difficulty. There is no weighted average of a B because the 'weighted' part takes into account what class that B was in. So for example aa A in a full college course might be considered 2 GPA points, and AP class 1.5 and academic level 1. This would give someone with all As in higher courses a 5.0 GPA and someone with all As in academic level a 4.0. Schools weight their GPAs differently, so OP was right to check with their counselor

What do the USAFA INSTRUCTIONS say?
If it's already in your portal as 4.01, it's 4.01!
And then be super happy if it is > 4.0 recalculated USAFA GPA. Nice job!

The portal shows the exact GPA that is listed on the uploaded transcript (4.64) so based on that just guessing that it hasn't been re-calculated yet. I think our high school calculation tends to be higher, so assuming the USAFA recalculation will reduce the average GPA but won't know for sure until it happens.

Does anyone know will it be posted on our portal once they do recalculate it ? Right now mine is the same as on my transcript.

@BMTUSAFA2025 For me it took a week for USAFA to recalculate. The GPA will be shown in the Academic Performance section.
Yes. the GPA is listed in the Academic Performance Section and has been there for several weeks as has the transcript submission. Still no idea if it represents the USAFA re-calculation. At some point, maybe there will be an opportunity to inquire just for curiosity sake. As they say often on this board....trying to focus on what we can control....but still would like to know.

Mine has 4.21 listed under academic performance. That is what I reported my GPA to be. My transcript actually has 5.26 on it because my school calculates a GPA on a 5.0 scale. So my high school counselor had to re-calculate on a 4.0 scale. My transcript was uploaded on August 11. So I’m not sure if they refigured it yet or not. It’s not a big deal at all I was just curious as well.
