Grades?

My question is, is it possible to get into the Naval Academy with Cs? I am in IB classes and I took them because I was sure that they could help me pull some additional weight in the admissions process. However, my grades aren't so hot. As of right now, I am looking at a 76 for the year in IB Chemistry and a 78 in Algebra 2. I can probably bring the Algebra grade up to a low B, but I still find Chemistry daunting. Additionally, I also received a C in Geometry this previous year, 76 to be exact. Will these C grades prevent me or drastically lower my chances at being admitted into the Naval Academy? If it helps, I have had many leadership positions. Will that balance out with my C grades to make me more competitive? I am a sophomore.

I had one C on my transcript and I was fortunate enough to receive an appointment my second time applying. Why do you have the Cs? This is a better question to be asking. There are a lot of great individuals who want to attend such great institutions; you have to stand out in any way possible.

Can you put more effort into these classes? Can you see about receiving some sort of tutoring? Most teachers will be flexible with you when they see initiative.

In short, it isn't the end of the world. However, I am sure there's some extra time you could devote to see improvement. Good luck!
