Hey everyone, I was curious as to how many of your schools has changed the grading scale. My school has changed it so that your grades that you had before going off of school cannot drop, but only go up. I know others have done the same thing. What have your guys or kids schools changed to, especially if they're juniors? How do you think admissions will look at 6th quarter grades for the class of 2025? I know we cannot say exactly how they will see it, but I wanted to know your guys thoughts on this. Would it make it not as heavily looked at, would it make 7th quarter grades more heavily weighed, etc? Again, many of us, me included, do not know how admissions will play the change of 6th quarter grades for the incoming class, but I am posting this to hear your thoughts and maybe get a discussion about the topic.

Our school district ended the quarter early, on the last day they were in school. Those grades stuck. New quarter starts next week with online learning and real letter grades, not Pass/Fail. All high schoolers will have a strange looking transcript for the Spring of 2020. What the Academies and Colleges want to look at is up to each individual school. The best advice is to just do your best and keep taking challenging courses.

of course. It will definitely be hard for admissions to truly differentiate next year as some schools may still have letter grades while others may be pass/fail or others may have stuck with what they had before leaving etc

You are right, no one can say with any authority how this Springs grades are going to impact Admissions next year. I am confident that Admissions will consider the impact of COVID . There is great disparity, even within a State or even a School, about the effectiveness of on-line learning, and I would expect that Admissions will discount this Semester (works both ways, good and bad), and look at overall performance.

my daughters school is keeping the grades just like there were in the classroom - no change at all - the on line learning is not ideal and she would much prefer to be in school but it is what it is and they have to make the best of it. praying senior year starts at the normal time and everything is back to normal.......
