Hearing portion of exam

DS had his medical exam yesterday. He was congested and did poorly on the hearing portion of the exam as a result. The examiner stated they would note his congestion. Curious if he may be required to take the entire exam over again if he fails because of this or just the hearing portion - or what could happen?
