Hello everyone,
I’m currently a high school senior who missed the deadline to get congressional nominations. Is it worth it to go to a community or 4 year college for 1 year then try to apply for next year? (2021-2022)

If your goal is to become an office in a branch of the armed services, there are many paths that result in a commission. If your preferred option is through attending a service academy, then start planning for your next application now -- secure your place in a challenging college program, take courses that mirror those taken by first-year academy cadets, do well in those courses, and stay out of trouble. Start preparing a calendar with all appropriate deadlines to prevent you from missing any deadlines next time and make sure you stay/get in shape.

Good luck. Thank you for your willingness to serve.

If you're really ambitious you could still try for the Vice Presidential nomination which is due on January 31st. If not, I agree with FMHS-79.

Welcome and thanks for wanting to serve your country.

Don't discount the opportunity that ROTC programs offer. You can attend a regular college and qualify for a scholarship to cover your tuition and possibly even room and board.

YES! There is more than 1 way to skin a cat. (There's actually 13 according to my cousin, Rodney.)

SA's are another commissioning path. Maybe consider a SMC like the Citadel or VMI if you're wanting a military college experience.

To reiterate @AROTC-dad DON'T DISCOUNT ROTC
