Are all parents attending the SLE closing ceremony required to undergo standard security clearance along with everyone else including contractors? During our visit to the academy last summer, it took us almost 2 hours to complete the clearance process, even though there wasn't any major event happening at that time (there were many contractors). DS has reached out to her contact at WP to inquire about the process, but was only advised to have parents arrive at least an hour early for the clearance, without any mention of specific forms or procedures to complete beforehand. Does this seem accurate? I have my doubts that one or two hours would be sufficient, especially considering the expected attendance of hundreds of parents, unless the academy has changed their procedures. I have searched this site and asked about it in another person's post, but I have yet to receive an answer.

Hi - Did you see this?

I would suggest you call the Visitor Control Center and see what you can do in advance (there is a form you can submit to expedite clearance - Local Area Credential Request). I have found the VCC personnel to be helpful, so call and get info in advance. Good luck!

Thank you so much! I just called the VCC and at first he told me that everyone have to get a number and go through the process to get a pass but after hearing my concerns, he went to check and came back to tell me that between 7:30-9:30 on that day no pass would be required!!!

Great news! "See you"at SLE Graduation!

So does anyone know how this is going to work? Park at the Visitor Center and go from there? Anyone else sign up for the family tour after the ceremony? I haven't heard anything on that so wasn't sure how that works either. Thanks!

Considering the expected attendance of numerous parents at the closing ceremony, it is highly likely that we will see a substantial crowd upon our arrival. As we approach the gate or entrance, the security officer should guide us in the right direction. . I believe that the academy has meticulously organized every aspect of the event so I guess we'll just go with the flow

Hello everyone! This was just a note for those going to next week's closing ceremony after I saw some of the previous questions. I attended the first SLE session last week and my parents came for the closing ceremony and the tour that followed. They had been in the understanding that they would need a visitor's pass to get in but were happy to find out that the paperwork wasn't necessary for those coming to the SLE ceremony. For parking, they ended up being directed to a lot that had shuttle transport available that would take them up to Thayer Hall where the ceremony would be. If you can get to a parking spot near Thayer Hall, that could save you from having to wait for space on the shuttles, though the transport isn't bad at all and everyone is very friendly to talk to while you wait. For my session, the doors of the auditorium wouldn't open until 8:15am so the parents who arrived early had the chance to explore the gift shop before going in. After the ceremony was over, all parents going on the tour got instructions on where to go for groups and had the chance to hit some of the main sites in the area. The tours weren't too extensive and parents would end up at the Office of Admissions where their CCs would be waiting for them with their luggage. From our experience, everyone there will be more than happy to help direct you or answer any questions!
