Help! Trying to decide

While it is true your DS/DD will spend four years at whatever SA they decide to attend--their choice should be on what they want to do AFTER commissioning week! That's where they are going to spend at LEAST the next five years! DS began his journey with an eye on USAFA, but after looking into career options, and interviewing numerous career officers in both AF & navy he decided navy had more opportunities that he was interested in! Remember it isn't about just the four years in the SA, it's what comes after those four years that are going to really matter! Good luck!
 
Definitely worth a shot to visit USNA, but if he's hellbent on USAFA, then don't fight him on it. I can't tell you how many times I experienced people leaving USNA because they really didn't want to be there, but did so for their parents. If he wants to be a Mid, awesome! If he wants to be a Zoomie, hey, that's awesome too. But don't force it on him
