Hi from Ohio,

My DS is applying to all three academies. He has a MOC nom for AFA and Presidential. His back up plans are ROTC. It has been a wild ride so far and have enjoyed lurking and gathering information. I do have a question though, is there some place that defines abbreviations? I am not sure what BFE means and TWE.

Thanks!

Welcome! I remember trying to decipher the acronyms when I first started...heck, I still get a bit lost when reading Pima's posts (but I love you Pima...truly!) :)

BFE = big fat envelope. If your son gets an appointment from USMA or USNA he will receive a really big packet, if he does not, he will get a thin white envelope (TWE). USAFA did not do BFE's last year, they just posted to your portal.

Here is the list of all the acronyms: http://www.serviceacademyforums.com/showthread.php?t=11568

best of luck to your son and enjoy the ride!

Thanks!

Haha... I was trying to guess and usually I am pretty good and decoding, but I though BFE might be Binder full of Excitement and TWE might be "THE" white envelope. Thanks for your help!
