My son is in the process of applying to USAFA and for AFROTC scholarships. His new part time job at a senior living center has requested that he take a COVID test (not an antibody test). He's asymptomatic and I don't think he has the virus, but it's possible I suppose.
We contacted his ALO this earlier this week for clarification and guidance but have not heard back from her.
I was reading this forum and a sub on Reddit in March and saw that initial knee jerk policy said if you tested positive you would be disqualified.
I know this is a rapidly changing situation and further guidance from the DOD was supposed to come on May 21 according to a thread I read in this forum. I googled and found an article in the military times that said you could still enlist in the military if you had tested positive but had not been hospitalized.
I'm concerned about jeopardizing my son's future in the AF over a part time summer job. His employer is not allowing him to return to work for two weeks if he doesn't take the test and then there is the possibility they will require the test to continue working there.
Does anybody know the current status of the policy? Are potential cadets subject to different policy?
Thanks in advance.
