I'm getting a little worried about my chances, because I was just put on hold status a few weeks ago. I currently am at a self-prep school and this is my first time applying to KP. I always browse through these forums when I get nervous about my application and pray that I find some inspiration...Can anyone tell me when the hold list gets looked at? I was told May 1st by someone and that sounds super late! Thank you in advance!

Can't tell you when, but this is what I was told about what being put on Hold status means. (I'm in the same boat as you).

USMMA is required (by law) to offer admission to applicants based on their ranked order-of-merit by State. As candidate files are evaluated, some (whose overall standing is VERY high) are offered admission early-on, the majority, however, are placed in a "hold" status. Those candidates then wait until all applications are evaluated and rank-ordered. In the beginning of April when admissions has all completed files reviewed and sequenced, they make offers to fill the State quotas and then move to the National Waiting list. Hope this explanation helps. "Hold" status is a good thing and shows that your package was reviewed and found worthy to be competitive against others in your state....now they just have to review everyone else in your state and rank them before offers are made. It is a tireless waiting game.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for the information! I'm a little less worried now! It certainly is a tireless waiting game. I hope we find out sooner rather than later. Best of luck to you!

State lists open as declines come through. Many don't get appointments until May, as the May 1st acceptance deadline seems to open up a lot of spots. Good luck.

Right, so you'll remain on hold until all that is completed.
It appears that way yes. Hopefully I'll hear something soon, but if not will continue the tireless waiting game.

Does anyone know the percentage/chances of applicants who are put on Hold status who will ultimately receive appointments?
