For the Labor day weekend (or any long weekend), when does the cadet's (4/c) liberty begins and ends assuming they have no duties? Friday evening through Monday evening?

Any info is greatly appreciated!

Liberty, called Libo at the Academy is never guaranteed, and only begins after each individual cadets Last Military Obligation (called LMO) which can vary by individual. Below is the general guidelines, but like everything at USCGA it is subject to change at any time. Also, if Covid is up in the area, Covid libo rules will be in effect which are even more restrictive.

For Labor day, that is covered under the Holiday Liberty rules, in the Regulations of the Corps of Cadets: After LMO Friday libo may be authorized until 1800 Monday night for a 4/c; upperclassman can return later.

For non holiday weekends:
For a 4/c it usually begins around 1300 on Saturday and ends around 2300 Saturday night.
For a 4/c on Sunday it usually begins at 0730 and ends at 1800.

4/c cadets are not authorized "Shorts" which are Saturday overnights for regular weekends (this does not apply to Federal Holiday weekends like Labor Day.

Also, the 4/c cadets may have duty during a holiday weekend. The companies alternate days so each company has duty every 8 days (although not every cadet will have duty every time).

By the end of the first academic year some 4C cadets may earn Longs or Shorts for various things and be able to get off campus longer, but using those still has to be approved and is not as sure a thing as a holiday break. My DD had a couple Longs she earned (for getting a star for example) that she wasn't able to use this spring because of her rowing schedule. And that's another thing: if your cadet joins a sport or the Windjammers or some other group there may be other scheduled events to work around. Semper gumby, returnable tickets, welcome change.

As long as they aren’t restricted or have duty lmo or 1600 on Friday until 1800 on Monday.
