Looking for suggestions for booking hotels for commissioning week. I understand rooms open to book a year out. Do you book online, work directly with the hotel, do a block of rooms? If u book for Wednesday - Saturday and then family wants a shorter stay would u loose the rate? If you had a particularly good experience with a hotel please share.

I believe hotels allow booking 15 months out. If you reserve then your stay is confirmed. The hotel will not cancel. The same cannot be said for Airbnb and the like.

Hotels are at a forming this week. Book early.
I would recommend looking at a past years schedule to help with your decision about what days to stay. Wednesday-Saturday? You will be missing a lot of celebrations. Ie: baccalaureate services begin the Sunday before. Supes garden parties are Sunday to Tuesday. Blue Angels. Grad Ball. You will miss a lot of you don’t come until Wednesday.
If you belong to your state parents club, they may have rec’s as to what/when/where to stay. I know our club has a few tried and they Airbnb’s that have been stays for years. And are dependable and reputable.
