How common is it to get a waiver for exotropia?

I just received a letter in the mail saying that I have been medically disqualified because I have a condition of the eye called exotropia. I'm not really sure what it is but it seemed like my eye examiner thought it was a mild case. Does anyone know how common it is to get a waiver for this? And what exactly is the process of getting a waiver?
