How do I get past Evaluation?

I applied to SLE and was accepted and I have a Candidate Portal opened with the preliminary application filled out through the SLE application. However, I can’t access the next parts like the apparent personal statements. How do I get my application evaluated to move on to phase two? My test scores are above average along with my GPA so I don’t know why there is a hold up. Should I email the admissions team or my Liason Officer? I’m very confused, I just want to start working on the application. Thanks!

The next packet won’t come out until around August. They need to evaluate the applications first. If your scores are within the parameters for admission, you should have no problem getting phase two opened (IMO it’s the easiest hoop to get through in this process). I know you want to start working on things now, but patience is key in this process. I was almost constantly stressed from the second I opened my portal to when I recieved my appointment (and even then, it hasn’t ended there). Go with the flow, don’t procrastinate, and be proactive. Things will come when they come, and when they do, be ready (it sounds like you already are). Good luck with getting into 2025!

Ok, thank you so much. I thought I did something wrong! I’m going to be paranoid through this whole process, but I am more than ready and excited. So in the meantime, should I just contact my Liaison to establish communication, keep preparing for the CFA, and look into my nomination sources?

While you are waiting, you might wish to get the contact information for your teachers who will be willing to serve as your referees (letter of reference writers) for your application. Many teachers use a summer email address. (I think it is English, Math, Physics or Chemistry, and PE).

I will get in contact with them. It helps that my physics teacher is also my XC and robotics coach. Very fast response times!

Also talk to your guidance counselor and registrar offices about how to send your transcripts and other items during the summer break. You can have most of your packet completed before school starts.

That’s exactly what you should be doing. @DrMom has great advice, as much of the application (save for nominations, DoDMERB, and maybe the CFA now) can be completed between before you even start senior year (and makes it 1000x easier). Right now, it’s pretty much just preparing to apply. If you want you can contact your liaison or RC and ask how to improve your application, which depending on how competitive your area is might be a massive help, just to get your name in their heads. Either way it can’t hurt.

Do what you can until the portal opens completely. I believe our son had his portal open 1st week in August, completed the application to the point it triggered his FFO interview in person 1st week of September. The FFO was impressed that he had completed the application early, especially considering USMA was not his first choice. It was great practice for interviews to come. Being early will not help you if you do not take care to submit the BEST application you can. Prepare and refine your resume. Set up some practice interviews. You have all the time in the world to max your CFA so train for that.
When DODMERB opens for you, do not fill it out alone. Have a parent with you. Do not check boxes based on your opinion. Make sure you only say 'yes' to conditions that were diagnosed by a physician. Be honest, obviously, but this is not the time to say yes to a respiratory condition because you had seasonal allergies.
Be patient, you need it in this process and even after appointments, our DS is having to adjust course as Plebe Summer changes occur. Semper Gumby.

Now is a great time to apply for Congressional nominations as well. All 3 (2 Senators and the Congressman) had their applications open by now in our state/district. The Senators use a portal system like WP so you can keep track of what is received/still to be done.

That is early to open but without SLE!
Also train for the CFT. TRAIN FOR IT. The Kneeling Basketball Throw is a real threat unless you are a shotputter.

Also, for the OP, listen, you might want to frequent/attend those West Point Admissions Office live outreach programs, without SLE and without campus visits, you will need to demonstrate interest whenever possible. Put yourself out there--as you are putting yourself and your interest out here on this forum.
