Quick question - In my portal, I have the following status in my Application Overview:

My nomination letter states, "...You have been selected to receive a nomination to the US Military Academy at West Point..."

How do I know if I'm a principal or an alternate without having to call my MOC's office?

*Yes, I hid my specific district number to maintain anonymity.

Thanks.

The type, competitive, principal, alternate etc. of nomination will not show on your portal. The only way to know is to ask your MOC.

When my DS got a principal nomination from one state senator, the MOC official who called later with the news of his appointment did not mention the fact that he had gotten a principal nomination (even though it came from their office). We found out later from the local Field Force rep, and they also explained that once he got his principal nomination from one state senator, the other senator did not offer a nomination because the MOCs shared info and knew that he’d gotten the principal nomination from the other senator (which they expected him to accept) so they gave their nominations to other candidates so as not to “waste” one of their nominations. So the field force may also know, even though the MOC already knew but did not offer the information.

DD was informed by our MOC that she received a P-NOM for USMA, and a competitive NOM for USAFA. The competitive NOM was because she already had an LOA, so they told us they wanted to use their USAFA P-NOM on someone else. She also received NOM's from the senior senator, but nothing from the junior. This was due to their offices sharing info...DD is covered so they were trying to nominate a broader list of candidates. There's a lot of behind the scenes communication that happens...I assume one of the many reasons why the waiting game takes so long. The NOM's aren't even due to the SA until January 31st.

Hang in there & good luck!
