How do you know if it's a principal nomination?

Do all the Congressman and Senators advise the nominees if they are their 'principal' nominee? Neither nomination letter DD received had 'principal' worded in it, so just curious
 
And some (like CA-48) do not do principal nominations at all. DS was told he was highest ranked of those who wanted Navy as first choice and he was put on the slate for Navy only. Staff told him they do not do principal NOMs and not multiple noms for same candidate since he was highest ranked for his first choice. If any of that makes sense. Received appt last week. Good luck!
 
I know in Delaware the one Senator that does do Principal Nominations visits the kids at their schools to share the news. The other Senator does competitive slates w/o a PN as does our only Rep.

That's a great gesture to do that for the nominees and the constituents!
 
Your portal won't indicate what kind of slate your MOC submitted. Your MOC would have to provide that information.
 
I was given a call from my MOC. You can probably ask their coordinator at their office if you were/when it's released.
 
And the slate they submit could use a different methodology then in prior years. Just because they issued principal NOM's last year, doesn't mean they will choose to do the same thing this year. Even the wording issued to the media could be misleading if the person isn't familiar with all of the terminology. Often times, the MOC will say that someone was APPOINTED to a SA when in fact what they should have said is they were NOMINATED. MOC don't issue appointments, the SA does that and everyone with a NOM might not eventually receive an appointment.
