How does the JROTC Nomination work?

My AFJROTC unit received the Distinguished Unit with Merit Award in March for how well we performed on our HQ inspection. With this, I know my SASI can give 5 nominations to academies, but I do not understand how the process works. My SASI is away in Singapore right now so I cannot ask him about it, but how does the process work? Do I have to give him the form myself? I also want to apply to a few of the academies and I know there are only two other cadets in my unit who have spoken to him about nominations and that means he could give multiple nominations because I am the only cadet who is applying to multiple academies.

I believe USAFA sends a letter/email in August offering the ability to nominate to HUD schools. It comes with a form.

Did they send it to the schools or to the academies? Because I want to apply to West Point even though I am enrolled in an AFJROTC program.

If you haven’t yet read every page, dropdown and link on your desired SAs’ websites, I strongly recommend it.

That is your primary source, and most answers are there. Take notes, build out a timeline, identify action items, create your strategic and tactical plan. That’s what junior officers do, which is why the entire SA application is a test of attention to detail, thoroughness, time management, research skills, drive, perseverance, patience and planning and execution abilities.

Thank you. There is also another form in my candidate portal which looks like an evaluation sheet, I am guessing that I will need my SASI to fill that out, but I will do further research.
