How does USNA notify you of appointment?

Hello. I am curious how USNA notifys you of an offer of appointment. Does it show up in your candidate portal when they do? I received an appointment from West Point and I can see that in my candidate portal, so I was curious if it’s something similar for Navy. Thanks for any help

USNA notifies Members of Congress before it gets posted on the Candidate portal. This gives the MOC a chance to notify candidates before the Candidates see it on the portal. Some MOCs do this and some do not. I believe it will show up in the portal about 4 days after the MOC is notified.

Our MOC staff contacted us on the home phone about 6:00 pm. Too late to call back. DS woke up the next morning to a message on his portal that he had an Appointment! I just remember sharing that moment with him. "Well, I guess I know where I'll be going!"

I guess it works differently for everyone. My daughter received an email at around 8:30 ET on a Thursday with the appointment offer. Our MOC called me (not my daughter) about 3 hours later to let us know he made the nomination. He was very gracious and complimentary.

After we looked at the chronology, the nomination happened on 12/16, appointment was offered on 12/22, and the MOC call was later on 12/22.

Oh, and by the way the acceptance button was smashed about 5 milliseconds after receiving it.

I agree with previous posters that it is different for everyone. I received correspondence in my portal and an email, though I had an LOA before I got my appointment. A representative from my MOC notified me that I had received a nomination and since I had an LOA, I got my appointment about 4 days later.

What if a NAPS recommendation has been offered; how does that show up in the portal?

It will show like this!
I didn’t get an email, call or letter. Just this.
I am still waiting for the physical acceptance letter.

After you accept the offer you have to submit more documents: body alteration, vaccinations, criminal background forms.

Só it can be a phone call from MOC or we just check the portal, no email?

Does the portal also notify you when you are NOT offered an appointment? I.e., when do I get the green light for a Plan B like self-prep?

Portal. It is just the reference to a turn-down for the application.

I'm trying to remember if my kid got an actual TWE during his first cycle?? Or if it was just in his portal. He definitely got his BFE for the appointment the next cycle in the mail.

Do you remember what the message of a turn-down is on the portal?

Not word for word. It was my kid, so I didn't see his portal stuff unless he shared it with me.

But it was obvious, not hidden somewhere. Under the "decision" heading. Said something to the effect of, "Thank you for your interest, we are unable to offer you an appointment at this time."

If you see a TWE in the portal, is this when the app gets added to the waiting list or considered for NAPS?

No. A NAPS offer will come as the offer. And regarding the waitlist, in past years, that has come as an email requesting whether you want to be placed on the list, or not.

One of my Mids accepted placement on the waitlist, eventually receiving an appointment. The WL gets further funneled down as slates are settled.

If you receive a ‘TWE’, there won’t be a NAPS or waitlist forthcoming. It’s the end for this appointment cycle.
