How long can you delay the ROTC DoDMERB exam following board results?

I'm having trouble following this. Could you please clarify? Thank you!
Let's assume you need to be off meds for 12 months. You get the scholarship at the first board and have the physical at 9 months after the last dose. You are DQ'd and apply for a waiver. Will they grant a waiver pending the next 3 months passing? Is your waiver held in limbo? Or are you just denied? Is there any way to make this work?
DS had a timed DQ (24 months). Even though both NSI and scholarship activation would occur AFTER 24 months, DS was still DQ based on his physical date and had to go through the waiver process. We made sure to point this out when they asked for additional medical information (AMI). So, yes, this scenario requires a waiver regardless of how weird it seems.

Thank you! so the physical date was before the 24 month mark? do you remember at what month the physical was done and then at what month the waiver was granted? (i.e. was the waiver granted before the 24 month point?)

Thank you so much. this is incredibly helpful.

No, they don’t grant conditional waivers pending time passing. You either have enough time off meds or you don’t if it’s a time requirement.

Also, remember that each medical case is different. One person’s experience may not necessarily be similar to yours. Even after passing time requirements, they’re going to look at the whole file before choosing or rejecting to waive the condition

Dec awarded scholarship
Jan DODMERB physical
Feb DQ'd, AMI for waiver
Mar waiver granted
Jun 24-months passed since original injury/surgery
This is anecdotal and was a super easy one to make sure an old injury had healed without issue. To manage expectations, I would expect med waivers to be more complicated.
