How long did you wait between 3Q and notification of decision?

I am a Soldier applicant and just became DODMERB qualified about a week ago. What is the earliest candidates start receiving offers? (This answer is likely different for prior enlisted since we can become 3Q sooner due to the commander nomination). Also, what method notified you first between a call, email, letter, etc. Thanks in advance.

My understanding is that it it up to WP Admissions. I haven’t seen a USMA Appointment thread for class of 2024 show up yet but I have seen such for USNA, so I would think WP Admissions could do the same.

While one or two appointments have drifted out to happy future cadets, the 'first wave' of big mailings of BFEs had been in mid-January for the last few years. It is a marathon of waiting rather than a sprint--so there will be a first big push and then they will come out weekly and regularly until around 1 May. You should hear between mid-January and the end of April. Congratulations on getting everything submitted and being 3Q with a nom.

Also, notification is pretty random, you may get a call or a BFE in the mail with no warning or may find a big purple box on your portal (again with no warning--and I promise, you cannot miss it), so you will want to pop into your admissions portal once a week until a decision is made.

@Spartan19 YOU SLY FOX! Congratulations on your appointment. I guess you did not have to wait very long at all.
So, was it a phone call, the BFE in the mail, or the big purple box on the portal.
Well done. Enjoy Army life until June. Be safe out there. <3
Congrats.

Thank you very much. It was a phone call and an email, and I was informed the BFE is on it's way. Very exciting day. Thanks for your insight and calming my anxious nerves this week!

For those reading this thread that aren't as lucky as Spartan19 - this is how it happened for my DS:

Year 1 - 3Q notification late November, Nomination in mid-December, pure silence until rejection letter in late April

Year 2 - Nominations in mid-December, No 3Q notification at all, BFE arrived in February

There really is no set time frame or order, some will get 3Q letter/some will not, waiting is impossibly hard but no one knows when or how you will hear. The best advice is to make sure you are complete and as good as you can be and try to enjoy everything else going on around you. Also be sure to have a back up plan as not everyone who is qualified will make it in.

Thanks for the good info. It's helpful to understand how the admission process works. Did your DS receive LOE or LOA in the 2nd year?
