How long is the waitlist, and realistically how likely is someone to get off of it?

I just saw a statistic from two years ago that 148 were placed on waitlist and all 148 accepted the spot on the waitlist. I think 29 made it in off that list eventually. My DS was waitlisted as well. Good luck.

If you accept a spot on the WL, can you remove yourself should another opportunity arise? My DS is applying to the USCGA (RA), USNA and the USAFA. He has a senatorial nomination to the USAFA. We are waiting to see if the other MOC's offer one to the USNA. Then we sit and wait to see what happens. Plan B is all set which is a Type 7 4 year AFROTC scholarship to Univ of Delaware.

Yes. You can remove yourself from waitlist at anytime.

My DS was also waitlisted. Wishing all who accept a place on the list the very best. Take a bit to process your emotions, and then turn your focus to your Plan B and C. Everyone should get those in place whether accepted or waitlisted!
Hugs to all.
