I am ordering High School Graduation invitations for DS and am struggling with whether or not to include the appointment to USMA. I should note that he hasn't actually pushed the button on his acceptance yet so I hesitate to say "DS has accepted an appointment to..." which is what I want to do, but he's waiting a bit longer just in case USAFA comes through. We're all 95% certain he'll end up at USMA, even if he receives a USAFA appointment, but it's not official yet. With that, what would you do?

What about “with plans to attend a US Military Academy”?

He could also accept USMA if he plans to attend. Problem solved.

IMO it should be what he wants to do.

Just focus on one step at a time...esp if you have to order the invitations now.
If you can hold off on the order until your child decides...
But please do not pressure your kid to make a decision...it is his choice alone. It is not an easy path or an easy or pleasant life--best to give him space.

Go with a just-the-facts announcement order now. If and when there is a decision and an acceptance, you can do magic with your own printer, heavyweight parchment paper or small card stock and create an announcement later to tuck in when ready to mail. “Reginald has accepted an appointment to USXA in City, State, and will report in June of this year.”

When I was on active duty and part of the team preparing for a change of command ceremony, we would normally add something to the invitation packet with the outgoing CO’s next set of orders. Sometimes we had to order without knowing his or her orders to next duty station yet. We would simply make up something nice, produce it locally, and slip it into the envelope, buying us breathing room. Of course, that changed to digital near the end of my AD career. But you get the idea.
