Just out of curiosity, what are some of the things that would deem a candidate medically disqualified and result in sending them home on I - Day in regards to blood drawing?

Drugs.
They do a breathalyzer for alcohol as well.

II usually pass out just for a few seconds when I get blood drawn. Will that be a problem on I-day? This is probably a stupid question but just want to know 😂
I wouldn’t take any drugs for anxiety before i day over the matter. ;)

Close your eyes!

LOL - I am the worst at this crap. I got through 2 c sections ok. I almost passed out when I saw the 4 foot needle used for the spinal block on my wife on the first one.

Interesting about the breathalyzer. Do plebe shows up at I day drunk?!!

Drunk enough, I suppose. As far as I know, no one has been stupid enough to do it in the last few years.
I can't imagine explaining why you need a ride home on I-Day. Hoo boy.

Actually, that is an actual thing ..... and happens a lot.

My son almost did because they took something like 7 vials, and with the rushing around all day, he had very little to eat or drink the whole time. He said there were at least 8 - 10 other people that had actually passed out while he was there. And it wasn't even that hot on I-Day last year.

ER nurse here. It's called vaso-vagal syncope and it is super common, esp in young men. If not familiar with it, it can be scary (as the patient and the observer).

With the drinking age now at 21 and the shift in overall US societal norms, it would not be common.

I will say that in an earlier time when the drinking age was 18 and lots of soon to be plebes spent the night at the old
Visiting Team Dorm in Halsey Fieldhouse, SOME of the plebes went out for a beer or three during their last night of freedom.

So what would they do with the people that passed out? They wouldn’t send them home right?

Yes passing out happens. And it’s nbd. Don’t worry about it. And someday, you will grow out of it.

Note to readers: HYDRATE the days going into Iday. Hydrate hydrate hydrate. And on Iday? Eat breakfast. Even if not hungry. Protein. Bacon. Get some food in you. Your welcome 😬
