I-Day- who can attend?

A couple of thoughts:
1. If your newly minted plebe has any military family members, they can do a ceremonial swearing in immediately following the official one. You can either go down to Smoke Hall (lower level of Bancroft), where they have flags set up for this, or pick a spot on the yard. (I know people who have taken photos at the same spot with their Mid at each milestone, which makes for nice photos.) They will have the oath of office available for you and you can do it however you would like. This is a nice way to link generations or honor someone who has served. Really personalized the day for us.
2. If you are bringing older relatives or anyone with mobility issues for either I-Day or PPW, rent a wheelchair from the local medical supply pharmacy. Worth every penny. You can not underestimate the amount of walking you will do. I did NOT do this and was sorry afterward. This is particularly important if I-Day or PPW are insanely hot weather-wise.
3. On I-Day, they have big tents set up on Hospital Point (across the footbridge) where parents can score some great swag and find out about the different parent clubs and hotel programs and such. We got nice countdown timers for the fridge and some other fun giveaways. Definitely worth checking out.
4. Get to the bleachers for the swearing in ceremony as early as you possibly can. Way too few seats for way too many people. You still probably won't be able to see your kid, but at least you will have a seat!
