Does the AFA give grades for BCT? I have not heard anything about this so it piqued my interest.
No. It's pass/fail.
I agree that its pass fail, but I thought I read that higher acievement levels can raise your overall candidate quotient (I forget the appropriate acronym). Am I possibly confusing this with Navy?
You can earn the Commandant's Pin (high military performance) during BCT. Other than that, it is pretty much pass/fail.
What does it mean if you fail?
Not passing basic = not being a cadet.
What exactly could one fail?
I apologize! I was mixing up my acronyms (BCT and CFA).
After going through all 5 1/2 weeks one could actually still fail and not become a cadet? That would really, how should I say it, SUCK.
it actually takes a lot to fail. you really have to NOT want to be there to fail. if you actually try you are 100% guaranteed to pass (considering you dont get a medical turn-back)
You have to fail multiple weeks of training, which is pretty challenging to fail if you actually try. Those who fail BCT are generally those who decide to quit.
Thanks. I'd hate to have a tearful BC call saying "I failed BCT", they are sending me home.
