I want to go to a service academy but need advice.

Boys State is definitely a big deal. I went this past summer, and highly recommend going if possible. In VA, I know there are two ways to get nominated -- your school or your Scoutmaster can nominate you to your local American Legion post. I would reach out to both right away. My high school's nominations are done within the next two weeks, so I'd expect something similar in MA.
