If you get appointed...

I was wondering how West Point notifies you of your appointment...

I know that they send out acceptance letters and give your congressional district a call (if you were nominated by your congressman). However, are there any other ways they notify you? Like, before you get your acceptance letters (since it takes at least a week or two to arrive in your mail), can you go on your Candidate Portal and see if you got appointed? If so, how does it show up on your candidate portal?

In addition, if I click "home" on my Candidate Portal, it leads to me a page where it says your title, what city and state you live in, and what school you attend. If it says "Cadet Candidate (Name)", does this mean you are accepted to the USMAPS or just running to be a candidate for USMA?

I will thank whoever answers my question ahead of time. Thank you!

I just recently accepted my appointment on Dec. 26. I had an LOA and nomination, entire file completed, and I was waiting for a letter of appointment in the mail. After waiting for a week after completing everything, I looked on my portal and the appointment was on there to accept or decline. I still have not received the appointment in the mail! Frustrating! I think I'm supposed to be getting a certificate or something? Not really sure, but I contacted West Point and they said they sent it on Dec. 23, but I never received it. Supposed to be getting a new one sometime soon.
So yes, your appointment offer will show up on your candidate portal.

Oh, and everyone is considered a Cadet Candidate until you take the Oath on R-Day. Whether you have been appointed or not, you are referred to as Cadet Candidate on your portal.

When you receive your appointment, you will receive a certificate in a very nice black folder, a letter from General Hagenbeck, and a card to send back accepting (or declining) the appointment. All will come in a large envelope by U.S.Mail.
