If you need advice or info on life at West Point

My DS would like to know if there are opportunities to join clubs (and therefore get to go on trip sections) during first semester of plebe year?

Being able to drive whenever I want. It sometimes sucks realizing that we can’t leave and are stuck here.

Yes! There are literally so many clubs to join. From fishing, to hockey, to movie clubs and political clubs. Plenty of trip sections if you look for them.they’ll have a club night and every club will explain what they’re about and talk to the plebes, and all clubs save spaces for plebes to join.
 
Hi I want to join the scuba club, war game committee, combat weapons team and irregular warfare group when I enter the academy. Is their a lot of time for clubs and is 4 clubs to many?

Am also a current plebe. You will have to commit to CWT or Scuba if you get onto it (not easy to do) and will have no time for other clubs, and besides that anything more than two clubs is really pushing it in my opinion. Two clubs is still rough even if you are academically good.

Your first, last and interim goals are to stay sat in all graded areas. As a plebe, you learn to prioritize. You’ll soon figure out what your experience, work ethic and abilities will allow you to fit in. Extracurriculars are a great way to enrich your time and provide enjoyment.

How early in the academic year was club night?
 
Hi! Thanks for answering questions. Can you explain in depth how much how much leave you get as a plebe and how the 5 mile radius/walking privileges thing works.

So plebes get 1 base pass, which means overnight. Hwoever during football games they sometimes give random passes which means you can leave overnight following the game. You can also earn spirit passes or performance passes. You can make ways to leave more, like trip sections and what not. Walking privs are everyday as long as you are not flagged. And you technically don’t have to walk, you could Uber
