I'm a Firstie ('20). Ask me anything!

Yep. 30 is correct.

Both myself and my classmate's suggestion is that you must focus on getting in here first if that's what you want to do.

Don't worry about the PST nor the SEAL Screener. You have 2 years here to train for it.

The NavSpecWar Center at Coronado also has a training program that you can download.
Your totally right, getting there should be a bigger and more important goal. However, I believe its never too early to start planning and/or training, especially with the selectiveness and physical demand for SpecWar. Thanks for that, I will look more into it.

What's your favorite and least favorite aspect of student life?

The quote that comes to mind is the Naval Academy "Is a great place to be from, not a great place to be at".

The favorite aspect would be the fact that I'm living right now in "The good ol' days". No officer responsibilities I have to worry about, no ARIs of your sailors, no qualifications or flight schedule you have to look out for. Your friends live literally right next to you.

Least favorite aspect is that your time is no longer your time - it's Uncle Sam's time. You're constantly doing things, you barely have time for your own self-care. Mental health is increasingly becoming a problem here at USNA and the fleet.

I have worked in our public school system for 10 years, and my husband for nearly 30 years. We see an overall increase in our student (and parent) population struggling with that..... it may be we are more aware/trained to spot issues earlier on, or it is just the way the world (in general) is heading.

Thank you for sharing info with us all, good to see a different perspective of the reality of what our kids are striving for (also helps to ease the wait to hear either way!). God Bless you and keep you @cihper in your journey 😇
