Impressions from the USCGA Admissions Cadet for a Day (Overnight) Event

I'd recommend slacks and a simple blouse. Sweater and or jacket depending on the weather (hit the Exchange for a fleece!). She wouldn't wear jeans to a job interview. She will be evaluated and reported on, so she needs to make a positive impression. For instance, my son rough-housed with the 3/C (longer story about carry-on for 4/C), and kept his mouth shut when his cadet had late rack and forgot to get him to breakfast. On the other hand, another kid fell asleep about 6pm. Just crashed. Not a good impression.

Would you say sneakers are ok for "comfortable shoes"? Not the hard core running shoes but casual walking sneakers in plain black or white? They said there will be a lot of walking so I don't want her wearing regular flats.

For girls, how did they dress? Dress code says business casual, but are jeans off limits then? DD owns nothing but casual. Wondering if slacks are necessary or clean black jeans (no rips or fades) would work. Also, even though it says comfortable shoes, should they not wear sneakers since it says business casual?

DD wore khakis, a short sleeve sweater with cardigan, and Sperry shoes. A couple of girls wore sneakers, but most wore a casual dress shoe. Many with casual pants with some type of sweater or blouse.

As cadets we weren't too concerned about what the bean sprouts were wearing...

Unless they were wearing a full JROTC uniform and told us to call them sir....

Or a full 3 piece business suit complete with a pager...

Yeah, don't that guy.

For those who attended Cadet for a day. Where your composite for the ACT above 30? Thank you.
