For those lucky candidates who received a LOA (pending nomination), in what format did you receive it? Email or letter in the mail (snail mail)??

DS was an email. He only had one little thing to do, which was submit a form. So it didn’t take long and turned into an appointment probably before a letter could have even been mailed out.

After completing the application, how long did it take to receive the LOA?

LOA was received within 30 days of completing the application for my DS.

DD had a medical Dq that needed a waiver so she technically wasn't compete..but I would also say within about 30 days of completing her portion of the application. She didn't complete until late fall though, so the admissions board was already in full swing.

I must reiterate that the goal in being a successful candidate should ultimately be in receiving and accepting an Offer of Appointment. So few receive LOAs that it is a folly to consider or hope that one will be forthcoming.
This process is a marathon. MOST candidates will not receive word until Spring. All candidates should be focused on completing the application, DoDMERB, and receiving that all-important nomination.
I don't care how perfect you are (or your DD/DS is) for the Academy. If you don't get a nomination, you don't get in.

Absolutely true THParent! Like everyone else, we’re just looking for positive indicators to ease the anxiety/excitement while waiting

Same here! We are focusing on plan B, C, D & E in the meanwhile!

We told DS to focus on filling out scholarships if plan A and Plan B - his first choice NROTC school doesn’t pan out. we told him he could go to the same college as his older sister. Presto! Instant motivation to fill out more scholarships and go someplace different.
