It means you started your application process and waiting determination if you will be allowed to go on to the next phase of the application.

It depends on the workload, but your status should change within a week after your open the application
 
Your file may not be deemed competitive yet. This happened to me last year. It wasn't until I got better SAT scores and took more leadership roles that I emailed my FFR and she talked to admissions and they opened up the portal.
