Hey ya’ll,

I have seen that close to 50% may fail the initial strength test right after I-Day. I was reading the page on physically preparing for PS and it said that plebes who don’t pass the initial PRT get sent to remedial training. Does this mean about half of the class will be in remedial training during PS? I must be missing something here.

Thanks

I'd say 50% is a bit of an exaggeration. Yes, people will definitely not do great on the initial PRT. If someone is assigned to a slower running group, rest assured that they will be helped to get up to speed for the final that comes at the end of Plebe summer.

You don't get remedial training for failing the iPRT which you take on day two of plebe summer. You get remediated if you fail the official PRT at the end of plebe summer.

It is probably close to 50%. Honestly most Plebes are still in shock a bit, the humidity, new diet, not sleeping well and just the fog of what the heck is going on. Most are not in that bad of shape, its just a total haze at that point. Its an inventory PRT really to see where folks are and who might need some attention.

And for the record, the pass rate for the official PRT at the end of Plebe Summer is in the mid to high 90's. Plebe Summer is really good at meeting people where they are at fitness wise and building upon that. Plebe Summer is not an attrition program. Neither is USNA as a whole... regardless of what the movie Annapolis (2006) makes it out to be.

Are you Class of 2027? If yes, then establish bond with your roommates/squad. So delete delusions of grandeur like finishing 1st on the run.

The saying is that your best PRT in your Navy career might be the one taken at the end of plebe summer. You will have 5 days of uninterrupted PT all throughout the summer and you’ll be in tip-top shape. This, obviously, doesn’t account for those that get injured.
