Injured prior to aviation physical for summer block PROTRAMID

@Parent1stTimer, stress fractures are no joke, DS had dual leg long bone fractures plebe fall. Following the advice BMU provides and the ortho doc are critical. Swimming actually was one way DS was able to stay fit without stress during that long healing period. Low impact was recommended by docs.

Hope your kiddo heals up soon.
Thanks for the well wishes - he's been dealing with this since Plebe summer. This spring had an MRI at Walter Reed and it was finally found. So he has never had real rest to have it heal - still everything but running. That's why it hasn't healed yet I think. Is swimming and has continued to do and pass the PRT (maxes out everything but running - which luckily he still passes - but with pain). I hope he heals soon too.

My DGD has also been dealing with stress fractures since Plebe summer and the healing has been very slow, much to her frustration. Like yours, she recently had an MRI at Walter Reed and has an updated plan that will hopefully lead to faster healing. She continues to bike and swim but is unable to do much running. I hope she will be able to take part in the majority of PROTRAMID. Even with the continual frustration of not being able to take part in all activities, she has loved (for the most part) her entire Plebe year and can’t imagine being any other place but USNA.
