Hello! My daughter has received an invite to apply for the Inspire Program. For anyone that is familiar with the program, after applying about how long did it take to get an interview? And how long after the interview are you offered a spot?
I'd love for my daughter to attend - I just need to coordinate my work schedule to attend with her. Thank you!

Attending Inspire does not circumvent the Application process, ie. timing of Offer depends on how quickly you submit the application. Most BGO's look for some progress on application before scheduling interview. Everything you really need to know is at the www. USNA.edu /Admissions website. Also, Candidate has to get a Nomination ..check with your MOC's for details on their process.

I believe OP is asking about the application to the Inspire program, not the application to the academy itself. I actually have the same questions that OP does. My son received the Inspire email last week and responded the same day by filling out some online form. Crickets since then. But the visitation weekend is next month, and a parent/chaperone is expressly invited to accompany the student, so one would think that a reasonable degree of communication would be in order, if not for the student, then for their putative chaperone, many/most of whom undoubtedly have jobs.

She's already well into her application and just has a few more things to finalize before submitting. I wasn't aware that BGOs do the interviews for the Inspire Program - it sounded like it may be someone from admissions, but I'll have my daughter confirm with her BGO. Thank you.

For me BGO did not conduct interview, it was the person in charge of Inspire.

I suspect you two are talking about two different things. But I could be wrong.

Someone asked the same question on another Naval Academy Inspire Program post. Here is my reply:

So around mid of January when DD got the invite to apply for Inspire Program which held on March 30-April 1, 2023. A couple weeks after she replied to the email to accept the invite, she received an email with a link to set up a date for a zoom interview where she would have to attend it with one parent.

She had an interview around the first week of February. DD mentioned that it was more like a conversation rather than a formal interview and it was very short (no more than 15 mins).

In mid February, she received good news. We were told that there were approximately 330 applicants and they picked 100 -150 candidates for the program.

It took a few weeks for DD to receive instruction to upload the paperwork. She waited until March 20th to received flight information via email for both her dad and herself.

It was an amazing experience for both my DD and husband. She loved it. She also had an opportunity to attend NASS and SLE this past summer. DD mentioned that it was challenging physically and mentally since it’s so different from civilian life but she learned a lot about herself and it solidified her desire to attend a service academy. She also had an opportunity to meet so many like-minded and high achieving people which inspires her to work harder.

Thanks for this info! Very helpful. Seems as if the timeline may be a bit more crunched for this session as the invitations to apply went out late last week (Sept 7th for my DD) and the session is Oct. 26th-28th. Either way, sounds like it was a month from application to the good news so that should be about 3 weeks for me to plan.

One other question because your DD went through - on the last day, is there a set departure time? My DD has an event on the evening of the 28th but are hoping we will have time to catch a flight home and make it in time! Our flight is only 2 hours so if we are out by noon we should be good! Thank you!

Sounds like you had about 11 weeks lead time from email to program. This iteration it's 7 weeks from email to program. So I would hope that most of that shortened time will come off the front end rather than the back end.

My bad..I thought the OP was referring to the Application process...I was not aware that there is an interview involved with Inspire. It's a relatively new outreach program, and not a whole lot of information about the selection process has been communicated to the BGO's.

attached is a schedule for the previous March inspire program . I think your DD will make it back on time. On the last day my DD had breakfast, CFA, then buses departed for BWI 15 mins before noon. We live in the west coast so there was a lot of layover flights. My DD and husband didn’t get home until late evening.

This is extremely helpful! Thank you! I looked up flights and as long as she can get on a 3pm flight, she will be fine.

Has anyone heard on this yet? My son said he got an email last week saying hopefully by this weekend.
