The day that sparked the February Revolution in Russia, removing the 304 year rule of the Romanov dynasty.
Completely unobserved in modern-day Russia under Putin's rule. Nothing to see here. Move along.
You see, modern-day Russian government isn't keen on celebrating popular revolutions. Or anything not aligned with strong-man autocracy.
But the Kremlin annually pays great attention to the anniversary of the October 1917 Revolution, which wasn't so much a revolution as it was a coup de etat carried out by the Bolsheviks, overthrowing Russian's 8-month old democracy.
