So excited my ds got an email yesterday saying the CGA was requesting an interview with him. His AO will be in touch to set it up. We are so excited, it means they are still thinking about him. He said if he doesn't hear from his AO by the end of the week he'll reach out to him.

Yes but that seems way to long to wait!

Did your DS end up reaching out to his AO or did AO contact him? My DS received the same email around the same time but hadn’t received follow up. He’s not sure if it’s too forward to reach out when it says he’ll be contacted within 30-days.

IMHO - Once the interview is requested, the applicant should wait until they are contacted. There is a system in place and contacting the AO after only a week won't speed things along. This is a great time to demonstrate restraint, flexibility, and the ability to follow instructions. At least he knows it's coming so take that energy and get prepared! Best of luck to your DS's :)

Because of the limited time left my DS did reach out to his AO and has an interview set up. With the April 1st date approaching soon I think waiting 30 days isn't realistic. Just my opinion but by reaching out to his AO I think it shows initiative to get the job done.

Speaking as someone conducting interviews, please be aware there has been a slight change in procedure for us to find out if there is someone in our area. For EA there was a running document available, updated by State Coordinators. This has not happened, yet, for RA. We have to find the document. I found it by accident. This being the case to date for RA, I recommend reaching out to your AO, who should be able to put you in contact with your State Coordinator.

Should Objee or another Partner see this, and things have changed, please let me know.

There is a running doc for RA as well. Not willing to post details here but check your inbox.

Does EVERYONE that is accepted to the USCGA receive a request to interview?

Essentially, the request from Admissions is that all incoming cadets will have been interviewed. That said, what that interview looks like, and where it falls in the application process may vary. Also, it may be requested before or after the notice of appointment. For example, an applicant may receive an LOA in the fall. If the appointment is offered/accepted, this applicant will still be interviewed if one has not taken place already. Ultimately, the need for the interview is determined by CGA.
