Interview with FFR, but no SLE invite-what to think?

DS received an email a few days ago from his local FFR requesting an interview with him. DS is very excited and is scheduling that interview. However, DS has not received an invite to SLE—which has him a bit bummed and a bit confused. Can anyone shed some light on if this is still a good sign to interview with FFR? Thank you!

Yes--SLE selection is not a requirement for or indication of a high probability of getting accepted. It is largely a tool to generate interest in the Academy from underrepresented regions and minorities. Many folks I knew from SLE didn't get accepted, and many did. I don't anticipate candidates getting much more out of the experience than you would talking to a cadet on here in the virtual environment, so please do not let him get too jaded.

Your Field Force Reps make direct recommendations to your Regional Commander, who are the ones who ultimately view your file. Most candidates interview with the FFR. Being proactive and demonstrating genuine interest and excitement towards the Academy will get you further in admissions than SLE.

DS applied for SLE and turned down but offered an appointment in early December.
