My DS checked his portal today and Admissions would like an interview. Im assuming this is a good thing and hopefully closer to an appointment soon or LOA. Any advice?

Interview request means that they requested an interview. Nothing more, nothing less. Some who are interviewed will get appointments as will some who are not interviewed. Some who are interviewed won’t get appointments as will be the case for some who are not interviewed.

Best advice is to not try to “read into anything”. This is just a process.

As an FYI, my DD was a well qualified (my opinion when compared to the historical stats) EA and was interviewed very early on and then outright rejected earlier this week. Stay positive but don’t try to read the tea leaves.

Purely as data, my DD still a fully qualified USNA applicant with a MOC nom and awaiting a response but has multiple Plan B options on the table.

All the best to your DD!

Yes it's a good sign! The interview gives your DD a personal connection to the Academy, and gives CGA additional information about an applicant. You should hear from your interviewer within a few weeks. It is not optional and most are conducted in person or via virtual teleconference. Good luck to your DD!

It says they will contact my DS. Did you send an email or did you wait for them to call to schedule ?

Typically within a couple of weeks of the notification the Interviewer will contact the applicant separately and likely via email. Recent events may have adjusted that timeline slightly, but once you get notified in Bear's Den, there's nothing more to do but wait and prepare. Good luck!
