If you are able to be in the New Jersey/Delaware area on the weekend of September 18th - not to be missed::thumb:

Second Annual Delaware Shore Chapter Cruise

How long has it been since you’ve said, “honey, I’m taking you on a cruise!”. Join with other alumni from the Mid-Atlantic Region on Saturday, September 18, for what promises to be a great Kings Point day at sea aboard the MV TWIN CAPES. You’ll be greeted by representatives of the Delaware shore chapter. Please look for a reception table with an academy banner for personal registration at the entrance to your respective terminal.

We will have a presentation by representatives of the SS UNITED STATES CONSERVANCY – a national organization dedicated to preserving our nation’s flagship. We believe this presentation will be a
highlight of our cruise.

We will also have exclusive tours of the engine room and bridge of the M/V TWIN CAPES which you will find very interesting and another highlight of our cruise.

Cruise Headquarters will the the DeBraak Room with its balcony bar and port and starboard views of the Delaware Bay. Enjoy historic lighthouses, picturesque harbors, oceangoing vessels, unique seabirds and, no doubt, some great sea stories during a round-trip cruise. The unique logistics call for the New Jersey and Pennsylvania Alumni to embark at Cape May and transit to Lewes, De; where the Delaware, Maryland, Washington DC, and Virginia alumni will board. All of us will then make the 90 minute transit together back to Cape May, and enjoy a buffet lunch featuring Crab Bites, a Cold Shrimp Platter, a Petite Sandwich Tray, Mini Croissants, as well as Fruit & Cheese, and Dessert Displays.

The cruise schedule is as follows:

10:15 New Jersey contingent arrives at Cape May terminal Foot Passenger parking lot for an 11:00 departure
12:00 Delaware contingent arrives at the Lewes Terminal Foot Passenger parking lot for a 12:45 departure
14:15 Vessel arrives in Cape May – New Jersey contingent disembarks
14:30 Vessel departs for Delaware
16:00 Vessel arrives in Delaware – Lewes contingent disembarks

The price for this Alumni Chapter event, including lunch, is $35, and, of course, associate members and guests are welcome. Those choosing to visit the ferry’s food concessions rather than the buffet may attend this event at a reduced price of $20.

The base price of $35 has not changed since our inaugural cruise of last year!!!!

To that point, the price for children for the ferry ride only is: under six are free, six to thirteen are $9 round trip, and fourteen and older are $18 round trip. The ferry’s food court might be an appropriate cost cutting option for children.

Some of you may want to make a week-end out of this and, in that regard, thanks to Susan of the TriState parents association, we can offer the Corinthian Yacht Club of Cape May for a dinner in their grill room on friday night depending on response. The cost would be to the individual’s account.

To those of you who will be boarding in Lewes, it has been suggested by John,KP’69, that we reserve a block of rooms in Lewes/Rehoboth for saturday night. Again this would be to the individual’s
account. If there is enough interest, I will look into this.

I know last year John and his lovely wife made a week-end out of it and had a great time at the Purple Parrot in Rehoboth.

Here’s a chance to enjoy lunch with your shipmates, introduce your friends to the Kings Point family, and show potential midshipmen what our Academy is all about! USMMA recruitment literature will be available.

We sold out last year and would like to do the same this year but we have a room that can handle 200 people this year so I ask you to contact friends and classmates to join us. We expect great participation from the “big u” conservancy so don’t be late-----make your reservation NOW!!!!

Reservations are required no later than Wednesday, September 8th, to:

Kevin Patrick '66, Vice President, Delaware Shore Chapter, at mahalomuchly@msn.com

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you on the ferry.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS AND GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
