Invited to Boy's State but not attending

Can someone tell me, or show me, where Eagle Scout and Boy's State are weighted equally. As far as I know, USNA has never revealed its WCS formula. I know that this statement has been floating around here for awhile, but have never heard the source

People are again referring to that 10+ yr old Rand study done for WP which is often quoted out of context here. Unless you work in admissions, you have no idea if USNA scores their activities the same way. Every year we see some on this forum who get an appointment to one SA, but a TWE from another, so most likely their formulas are somewhat different.

Yes, the formulas are different (for example, Math SAT/ACT is weighted more heavily due to the technical nature of the Navy), but keep in mind that the applicant pools are different. I am sure there is some overlap, but getting into one Service Academy does not necessarily get you into another.

From my perspective, I am just very grateful that my son has to choose from a set of all very great options. Even if he never gets an appointment, the application/nomination path before him is molding him into a better young man. Just the way he is approaching prep for CFA at NASS makes me so proud. I went with him to the gym (the "Y") yesterday and he was doing sets of declined sit ups. Wow!

Ask him to try some Corn Cob Pull Ups. I don't believe that I could have done a single one of those as a teenager.
Holy frioles!

My daughter (USNA Class of 2019) was selected for Girls State but it was in conflict with her NASS date. She was also selected for USAFA Summer Seminar and wanted to attend both Academy programs so declined the Girls State invite as she couldn't make the schedule work. That being said, she was sure to include her selection for Girl's State in her applications despite not attending and explained that it was in conflict with the Summer Seminar programs.
