Is anybody still waiting?

Just had a conversation with a D2 coach pushing for commitment… and still waiting for EA decision. CGA is my #1 choice, slow playing the D2 as much as I can
My DD is in the same boat. D2 coach is driving her bonkers for a commitment. What are your plans if you get deferred to RA?

Makes it tougher doesn't it? Same boat for my DS and basketball. Hang in there. Coaches are under a lot of pressure to secure their rosters at all levels (d1, 2, and 3). Just have to stay honest with them and let them know the situation... just a few more days for EA notice and little more clarity.

My son was pretty open with the coaches recruiting him. At times painfully honest. Service academies were the top. We would decide after if he didn't get into an academy. I'm not sure many schools would fault you for waiting on USCGA. I'm also assuming there is not a lot of scholarship money from the DII school, but maybe it's different for your sport. I would say it the coach is putting a ton of pressure on that might be something to consider as a negative. There is a line between wanting you to be a part of the program and being desperate to have you as a part of the program.

Sit tight and have faith. I would continue to delay any commitment if they are second and third choice schools and the USCGA is truly your personal or DS/DD's goal. They will wait or they will lose the opportunity to coach you or your DS/DD. My nephew just walked on as a freshman to his colleges baseball team as a pitcher. He choose the school. Baseball was just secondary. Finances can have an impact, but any D2 school isn't giving out huge sums of money. I would counsel you or your DS/DD to focus on the end goals, the school, the community, and everything else first. Any athletics or extracurricular would be a secondary discussion. It is a difficult proposition but a worthy one, and truthfully, if you or your DS/DD is being recruited for their gifts then the options are plentiful. Those early successes are worth celebrating. Such a wonderful accomplishment! Hugs are in order. Be sure to get as many as possible from those that love you!

Written by a parent and not an applicant. The points remain despite the perspective. To those waiting for decisions that are not athletes....the same relevant advice applies. Just switch out a few words "Coach = Mentor", "Baseball = Anything" and so on....

So what’s the guess for how many more appointments will come out this week?

DS is still waiting; Interview requested and completed last week but not updated in the Bear’s Den.

Guys I have seen both sides of the spectrum.
My DS (2026) was notified on his appointment during February break. My DD (2028) received hers just before Thanksgiving.
The appointments are rolling. You have all put the work in. STAY CONFIDENT

Thank you. Easier to say w appt in hand lol
I’m staying optimistic, read several 2027 and 2026 posts and good news are still possible.

It’s not a no until they say no… our class of 2026 DD was rolled over from EA to RA then was waitlisted… had planned for plan B but also told them she’d still love to join the class of 2026… May 27 she got her appointment… it was a whirlwind but she’s now a happy 3C and can’t imagine being anywhere else.

(Her plan b was to self prep and reapply so we are super thankful we only had to hold our breaths through one application year vs two😂)

My DS was just informed that his application is moving to regular admissions. I was hoping for some clarity, but he has some more waiting to do. Good luck to everyone.

How was he alerted? Phone call? email? Bears den?
