Is one nomination applicable for all academies I apply to?

Hello everyone,

I have done a fair amount of research trying to find an answer to my question, but to no avail. If I missed a previous thread that discusses the question I'm about to ask, I am sorry in advance and would appreciate it if I be directed to it.

I just received a nomination from Senator Feinstein (CA) for USAFA. This is no problem since USAFA is my number one choice, but what happens if I change my mind later on and decide that I want to attend, let's say, USMA (assuming that I am offered appointments to all the academies that I applied to)? Would the nomination that was given to me for USAFA be transferred over for USMA and allow me to attend the latter? I would assume that would be the case since it will be extremely difficult for a candidate to receive individual nominations for each and every service academy he/she is applying to. But I'd like to make sure, so that I can rest assured that I am not making a mistake here.

Thank you all very much in advance. Hope everyone has a great holiday season!

The nominations are for the stated Service Academy.

If you have a change of heart, there are threads that discuss various approaches to your nominating source. No guarantees. The nominater would have to have a nom available.

There are candidates who receive noms to multiple academies. Those candidates have done the legwork to apply. Some states' reps agree to not do multiple noms or dupe noms.

With these types of questions, it's always a good approach to start with primary sources first - Senator/MOC website review, or contact a staffer. That is where you will get your most accurate answers. If you have done a fair amount of research, and a staffer who works the SA nom program didn't know, that's very surprising.

Congratulations on your USAFA nom!
