Is there any chance of doing Ballet at USNA?

Hi everyone!

I know USNA has ballroom, along with other genres of dance, but I was curious to know if there was any chance of being able to do ballet at the academy.

If there is anyone who has a bit of insight regarding this.. please do let me know,

I do not know of a ballet club, but we have cultural dance clubs like Latin, Swing and Line dancing :)
 
There aren’t a ton of people who do ballet at USNA, but I am a current 2/c who drives to DC on the weekends to take adult classes at the Washington Ballet! There are also some local dance schools closer to the yard that could be easier to get to during plebe/youngster year.

Thank you so much!! This is very helpful.

Do you have any studio reccomendations that are close to the yard? I am fairly new to ballet but highly interested in taking some classes if time permits. Let me know whenever you can!
 
You would not be able to during Plebe year unless they fell on approved town liberty times (Saturday afternoons). Not sure what the new rules are, but Plebes usually only have Yard liberty on Sunday, not town.

You cannot leave the Yard otherwise. Especially on weekdays.

YouTube is a good online learning resource .... I bet there are Ballet how-to & diy videos ... save a lot of money

... so one can start a ballet club. Why not?

DS found a hip-hop club, not join however because the AI club as in Additional Instruction is more hip and wonderful. 😇
 
They do have an MMA/Jujitsu club. Saw them practicing on one of my visits with the dude last year when he was a Plebe. ;)
