Son has applied early decision to JHU and listed it on his Army ROTC scholarship application. It sounds like a small unit, which probably explains why I haven't found much information searching this forum. Does anyone have any insight/experience with AROTC at JHU? Do the Army ROTC cadets have to go to University of Maryland for class like the AFROTC cadets? As things develop, son will contact their unit directly, but I figured it would help to have a little more information to know what to ask about.
 
Have you looked at the JHU AROTC page? In my experience, the school AROTC site will explain where the cadets will to PT, class. I've had great success reaching out to the ROTC cadre via email at the schools to which she has applied.

Their website has good info on their cadre and the history of the battalion... and there is a broken link that is supposed to go to a map of where their office is located on campus. So, we know they have offices there somewhere, but not much else. The JHU AFROTC page prominently states they take classes at the University of Maryland, but there's nothing about that on the AROTC page. We are hoping that means they conduct class and PT on campus at JHU. Son has not received any response from them as of yet, which is understandable since they are probably out of their offices for winter break.

the ROO is very approachable, I recommend you have your son reach out.
They say they have little influence with the admissions board, just FYI.
 
Thanks to everyone who responded. Son finished his early decision application for JHU, and has PMS interview for ROTC scholarship Monday. He's excited to see how this all turns out, and I am too! When my older son was applying to USMA and AROTC, he found everyone very helpful, so I am confident he's going to end up at the right place for him.

Son sent an email to someone in their office a few days ago. I have a feeling they might wait until they return to campus before answering, but hopefully, they will have some additional info about their unit to share.

Thank you so much for following up. We should know in the next few days what the options are, with ROTC scholarship board results coming and JHU admissions decisions being released soon. I will let my son know about the updates to the website! If JHU is in the cards, I'm guessing he will want to be in contact for information to guide his decisions. JHU has been his dream since 5th grade, and serving his country is his priority, so I hope things work out so he can achieve these goals.
 
My son toured JHU a few years ago. The PMS was very welcoming and helpful. And the cadets answered all of his questions and gave him a private tour of the campus.
Not that it really matters, but the armory was very old.
